Alto de Bomba is located in the Monte Sossego neighborhood, Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, Cabo Verde.
The area is defined by two hydrographic basins that connect to the Cova area, the Monte Sossego–Ribeira de Craquinha road, and Alto de Casa de Água.
A physical analysis of the site quickly revealed the potential to integrate stormwater drainage with access to the different elevations of the hillside; slope retention systems combined with streets running along the contour lines; plots with internal courtyards aligned along the streets; and connections capable of structuring overall mobility across the area while addressing zones of risk.
Given the absence of stormwater, water supply, and electrical infrastructure across a substantial portion of the territory, the Alto de Bomba structural project aimed not only to equip the area with all essential infrastructures, but also to connect it to three distinct urban rehabilitation areas (Punctual Interventions 1, 2, and 3). These interventions enabled linkage to the nearest existing urban infrastructure.
